How to make AI write in your voice: Muses and Skills
Muses give Paige a writing personality and style. Skills are instruction packs that change how she works. Together they stop your book from sounding like a chatbot.
Step by step
- 1
Browse Muses
Open Muses to see the ready-made ones. Each has a personality, a writing style, genres and an "inspired by" note.
- 2
Pick a Muse for your book
In the workspace, use the Muse selector. You can have up to two on at once.
- 3
Make your own
Create a Muse and fill in Personality, Writing Style, Genres, Inspired by, and Forbidden Words for phrases you never want to see.
- 4
Add a Skill
Open Skills. Add one to your library, or Add & turn on to use it in the current story. You can also write your own.
- 5
Fine-tune the style
Use the Style control in the composer to make prose leaner or lusher, and the length control to set how long drafts run.
Muse or Skill?
A Muse is who is writing: the voice, the taste, the words it avoids. A Skill is how Paige works: rules like "always end chapters on a hook" or "British spelling". Use a Muse for sound and a Skill for process.
Try typing
“Forbidden words: suddenly, a mix of, the weight of, released a breath she didn’t know she was holding.”
Put these in a Muse’s Forbidden Words.
Questions
Why does AI prose sound generic?
Without direction, AI falls back on safe, common phrasing. A Muse with a clear style and forbidden words, plus your own Skills, gives Paige a specific voice to follow.
Can I share a Muse?
Yes. Muse cards have a Copy public link option.
