How to write fanfiction with AI that stays true to canon
Load the canon you care about into the Story Bible, and Paige writes inside it: the right names, relationships, places and history. Here is how to set it up and keep it accurate.
Step by step
- 1
Start a fanfiction project
In setup, pick Fanfiction as the genre.
- 2
Bring in the canon
Open the Story Bible, press Import Story Bible, and choose Paste text. Paste your character and world notes with three dashes (---) on their own line between entries. The first line of each becomes its name.
- 3
Lock the canon
Lock the entries that must stay exactly as canon. Paige reads locked entries but never edits them.
- 4
Note where your story diverges
Add an entry for your AU or divergence point, for example "After season 3, but X survived." Paige treats it as part of your world.
- 5
Draft and export
Draft chapters with New chapter or This chapter, then export Markdown, Word or EPUB for AO3 or Wattpad.
What to put in the Story Bible
Paige only knows the canon you give her. Short, factual entries work best. Write them the way a fan wiki would: who someone is, how they talk, who they are loyal to.
- One Character entry per main character: personality, voice, relationships, key history.
- Location entries for the places your story uses.
- Lore entries for rules of the world: magic systems, ranks, technology.
- A Plot Arc entry for the ship or the story you are telling.
Prompts that work
Name the canon point and the change you are making. Paige keeps the rest consistent.
Try typing
“Canon-divergent AU: the tournament never happened. Draft chapter 1 from her point of view, three weeks after the finale.”
Try typing
“Keep his speech pattern from the Bible. He never swears and always deflects with jokes.”
Try typing
“Check chapter 5 against the Bible and tell me anything that breaks canon.”
Chat mode answers without changing your book.
Questions
Does Paige know my fandom already?
Do not rely on it. Paige writes from what is in your Story Bible, so paste the canon details that matter to your story. That is also how she stays consistent for 50 chapters.
Can I import notes from another tool?
Yes. Import Story Bible accepts pasted text, .md, .txt, .json, and a zipped NovelCrafter codex export. Nothing is overwritten; if a name already exists you get both copies.
Can I post it on AO3 or Wattpad?
Yes. Export Markdown, Word or EPUB. You own what you write; follow each site’s rules on AI-assisted work.
