AI should help you finish your book, not write it for you
Plenty of writers are uneasy about what AI is doing to publishing, and that unease is reasonable. We are not going to argue you out of it. What we can do is be specific about how this tool works, what we do with your writing, and what we will not do.
The editing side of WriteWithPaige exists because a finished draft is the hard-won part. Our job there is to catch the repeated word, the tense that slipped, the chapter where the pacing sags. Your voice is the thing we are trying not to touch.
Our commitments
We do not train on your writing
Your manuscript is stored so that you can work on it, and it is used to give you the feature you asked for. It is not collected into a training set. We do not build or train AI models, and your book is not raw material for one.
You own everything you write
You keep all rights to your work, including passages where you accepted an editing suggestion. We claim no ownership of your stories. This is in our Terms, not just on this page.
Nothing changes unless you say so
Edit passes return suggestions. You accept or reject them one at a time, and quick fixes only touch text you have selected. If a suggestion does not sound like you, decline it and the sentence stays exactly as written.
We will tell you what we do not know
The law around how AI models were trained is unsettled, and we are not going to pretend otherwise on a marketing page. Where a question is genuinely open, we would rather say so than give you a confident answer we cannot stand behind.
Questions writers ask
Is my manuscript used to train an AI model?
Not by us. We do not train models and we do not compile your writing into a training set. Your work is stored so you can keep working on it and is sent to the model that powers the feature you are using at the time.
Who owns what I write here, including edited passages?
You do. Our Terms state that you retain ownership of all content you create using the service, and that we claim no ownership rights over your creative work. Accepting an editing suggestion does not change that.
Does Paige write my book for me?
Only if you ask it to. The editing features are built the other way round: you bring writing you have already done, and you get suggestions on it. You can use the drafting features or ignore them entirely and use this purely as an editor.
Do you use third-party AI models?
Yes. The models behind these features are built and operated by other companies, which means we did not choose their training data and cannot speak for how it was assembled. We think writers deserve a clearer answer on that than the industry currently gives them.
Can I turn the AI features off?
You can simply not use them. The workspace, Story Bible, chapter organisation, and export all work without invoking a model. Nothing runs on your manuscript in the background without you starting it.
Will you tell me if this changes?
Yes. If any of the commitments on this page stop being true, this page changes first. If you want to hold us to a version of it, the Terms are the binding document.
