Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 9, 2026

1. Introduction

WriteWithPaige ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our AI-powered writing assistant ("the Service").

By using WriteWithPaige, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable privacy laws.

2. Data We Collect

We collect several types of information to provide and improve our Service:

  • Account Information: Email address, name (if provided), and authentication data (via Google Auth or email).
  • Usage Data: Information on how you access and use the Service, including IP addresses, browser type, device info, and time spent on pages.
  • Content Data: The text prompts you enter and the stories generated by the AI. This data is necessary for the core functionality of the Service.
  • Payment Information: Payments are processed by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your credit card details on our servers; they are handled securely by Stripe in accordance with their Privacy Policy.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the Service.
  • To process your subscription and payments.
  • To allow the AI to generate content based on your prompts.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • To monitor usage patterns and improve the user experience.
  • To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraudulent use.

4. GDPR Compliance (EU/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you have the following rights under the GDPR:

  • Right of Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification: You can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You can request that we delete your personal data.
  • Right to Data Portability: You can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to Object/Restrict: You can object to the processing of your data in certain circumstances.

To exercise these rights, please contact us at paige@writewithpaige.com.

5. CCPA Compliance (California Residents)

Under the CCPA, California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is being collected about them.
  • Know whether their personal information is sold or disclosed and to whom.
  • Say no to the sale of personal information (We do not sell your personal information).
  • Access their personal information.
  • Request deletion of their personal information.
  • Equal service and price, even if they exercise their privacy rights.

6. Data Retention and Security

We retain your account and content data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. You can delete your stories or your entire account at any time.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Third-Party Service Providers and Affiliate Links

We use third-party companies to facilitate our Service:

  • AI Models: WriteWithPaige is a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) platform. You connect your own API key from a third-party AI provider of your choice. AI requests are sent directly using your key and are subject to your chosen provider's privacy policies. WriteWithPaige does not provide, host, or control the AI models used. We do not store, read, or log the content of your prompts or AI responses.
  • Payment Processing: Our authorized payment provider handles all billing information.
  • Analytics: We may use tools like Google Analytics to understand site traffic and improve the user experience.

8. Browser Extension

The WriteWithPaige extension for Google Chrome brings Paige to other websites. This section covers what it does with your writing.

  • The side panel: Clicking the extension's icon opens writewithpaige.com in Chrome's side panel. It is the WriteWithPaige site itself, with the same account and the same data as using the site in a tab, so the rest of this policy covers what you do there.
  • Checks that run in your browser: As you type, the extension marks filter words, dialogue tags that lean on adverbs, words repeated close together, and phrases you have banned. These checks run on your computer. The text they read is not sent to us or to anyone else.
  • What is sent, and when: Only text you select and send, or ask Paige to check, goes to WriteWithPaige. A rewrite sends the passage you selected and a few sentences around it. A deep check sends about a page of text near your cursor. Send to Paige puts the text you selected into Paige's chat in the side panel, and nothing else from the page goes with it.
  • How that text is used: Rewrite and deep-check text is processed by the AI model that writes Paige's edits, which we run through computing providers, and the edit comes back to you. We don't keep that text afterwards. We only record that you used one, to apply your plan's daily allowance. Chats in the side panel are saved in your account, like any other chat with Paige.
  • Your sign-in: The extension uses your WriteWithPaige sign-in in the same browser, so you don't sign in twice. It reads that sign-in only for writewithpaige.com. It does not read sign-ins or data from any other site.
  • Where it runs: The underlines and the rewrite bar run on a fixed list of writing sites (for example Notion and Novelcrafter), on writewithpaige.com, and on any other site you turn them on for. Send to Paige works on any website, and only on the text you select. The extension does not collect your browsing history.
  • Settings and updates: Choices such as the sites you have paused are kept in your browser. From time to time the extension downloads its settings from writewithpaige.com, such as which checks are switched on. That request carries the extension's version number and nothing about you or your writing.
  • When you remove it: Chrome opens a short page asking why. Answering is optional, and your answer is not linked to your account.
  • Nothing is sold: We do not sell what the extension reads, and we do not use it for advertising.

To remove the extension, right-click its button in Chrome's toolbar and choose "Remove from Chrome". Removing it does not delete your WriteWithPaige account or your projects.

9. Children's Privacy

Our Service is intended for individuals who have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal data, we will take immediate steps to delete such information and terminate the account.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes.
