How to write a romance novel with AI in WriteWithPaige
Start a romance project, set the tone, and have Paige draft chapter by chapter while the Story Bible keeps every character, relationship and promise straight. This guide walks through it from a blank page to an exported book.
Step by step
- 1
Start a project
Open the workspace and answer the four setup questions. Pick Novel, then Romance as the genre.
- 2
Say where you are starting
Choose "A blank page" if you want help finding an idea, "I have an idea" to type your premise, "Mid-story" to paste your latest scene, or "I have a finished draft" to import a manuscript.
- 3
Pick how it should feel
Choose a tone: Emotional & character-driven, Fast-paced & plot-driven, Dark & atmospheric, Light & witty, Hopeful & uplifting, or Steamy & romantic. Then press Start writing.
- 4
Draft chapter by chapter
In the action bar, choose New chapter to draft the next one, or This chapter to Continue or Revise the chapter you pick. Or leave it on Auto and just type what you want. The line under the box says what Paige will do.
- 5
Review before anything is saved
New drafts arrive as suggestions. Preview them, then Accept to keep or Dismiss to throw away.
- 6
Keep the leads consistent
Open the Story Bible to see your characters, places and plot arcs. Paige adds and updates entries as the story grows, and reads them before she writes. Lock an entry if you never want Paige to change it.
- 7
Export the book
When the draft is done, export it as EPUB or Word (.docx) for Kindle, Wattpad, AO3 or your editor.
Tell Paige the romance you are writing
Paige writes better romance when she knows the shape of the love story: the trope, the point of view, where the couple starts and how fast things move. Say it in plain words in your first message. She saves the important parts to the Story Bible so she remembers them in chapter 30.
Try typing
“Enemies to lovers, dual POV, first person present. She runs the bakery he is trying to buy out. Slow burn: no kiss until chapter 12.”
Trope, point of view, setup and pacing in one line.
Try typing
“Draft chapter 1: their first meeting at the zoning hearing. End on her realising he is the buyer.”
Try typing
“Revise chapter 4 so his apology feels earned, not rushed. Keep the argument in the rain.”
Use This chapter, then Revise, and pick chapter 4.
Keep the relationship consistent across the book
Long romances break when details drift: eye colour, a promise made in chapter 3, who knows the secret. The Story Bible is where those live. Paige reads it on every turn, so she does not contradict what already happened.
You can add entries yourself with the + button, or let Paige add them. Entry types include Character, Location, Item, Lore, Faction, Plot Arc and Outline.
- Put the relationship milestones in a Plot Arc entry (first meeting, first kiss, the break-up, the grand gesture).
- Lock the entries you never want changed. Paige will read them but not edit them.
- Use Chat mode to talk through a plot problem without changing your book.
Finish and publish
Run Edit Mode on a chapter for grammar, repetition and prose notes, or Book Pass for the whole manuscript. Then export EPUB or Word. Everything you write is yours to publish; check your platform’s AI disclosure rules.
Questions
Can AI write a whole romance novel?
Paige can draft every chapter, but the best books come from writers who steer: you set the trope, the beats and the voice, Paige drafts, and you accept, revise or dismiss each draft. The Story Bible keeps it consistent from the first chapter to the last.
Is WriteWithPaige free for romance writers?
Yes. The Free plan has a daily allowance that resets every day and includes every writing mode, the Story Bible and export. Paid plans give you more room.
Will Paige remember my characters in later chapters?
Yes. Characters, places and plot arcs live in the Story Bible for that book, and Paige reads it before she writes.
Can I publish a book written with WriteWithPaige?
Yes. You own what you write. Export EPUB or Word and publish on Kindle, Wattpad, AO3 or anywhere else, following each platform’s AI disclosure policy.
