How to back up, export or delete your data in WriteWithPaige

Your work saves to your account automatically as you write, so it survives a closed tab and syncs across devices. For your own copy, use “Export Data” in Settings to download a ZIP. Deleted chapters and Bible entries stay in “Recently deleted” for 30 days, and you can delete your whole account from Settings.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Open Settings

Phone: “Open menu”, then “Settings”. Computer: “Settings” in the left rail. Scroll to “Your Data”.

  2. Step 2: Tap “Export Data”

The “Export Your Data” window opens. It makes a backup of your work as Markdown files in a ZIP, which opens in any text editor, Scrivener, Google Docs and more.

  3. Step 3: Choose what to include

Tick “Projects & Writing”, “Chat History”, “Muses” and “AI Memories”, or use “Select All” / “Deselect All”.

  4. Step 4: Download

Tap “Download ZIP”. It says “Preparing download...” and then “Downloaded!”. The file is in your Downloads folder (on iPhone, in the Files app).

  5. Step 5: Get your Story Bible as Word too

In the same window, tap “Story Bibles as Word (.docx)”. You get one formatted document per project, with a linked table of contents.

Where your work is saved

Your work is saved to your account, not just your device. It saves as you write, so it survives a closed tab or a dead battery and shows up on every device you sign in on.

Your content is never sold or used to train models.

What the backup ZIP contains

This is a backup of everything. To export one finished book as EPUB or Word for Kindle, Wattpad, AO3 or an editor, use the Export hub in your project instead. See “Export your book”.

“Projects & Writing”
“All chapters, story bible entries, and notes”, in a folder per project.
“Chat History”
“All AI conversations and chat logs.”
“Muses”
“Custom AI character configurations.”
“AI Memories”
“What the AI remembers about your preferences.”

Getting deleted work back

Deleted chapters and Story Bible entries are not gone at once. Scroll to the bottom of your chapter list or your Story Bible to find “Recently deleted”. “Deleted chapters stay here for 30 days.” Each item shows who deleted it, when, and how many days are left.

Tap “Restore” on one item, or “Restore all”. In a shared story, anyone writing that story can bring items back. A chapter’s narration does not come back with it.

The Recently deleted chapters window, which explains that deleted chapters stay here for 30 days and can be brought back.

Older versions of a chapter

“Recently deleted” brings back whole chapters and entries. To go back to an earlier version of a chapter that still exists, use Version history instead. Open the chapter, tap the ⋯ menu in the status bar and choose “Version history”. See “Version history” for the full guide.

If your plan ends

Nothing is deleted when a subscription, gift or Business seat ends. Your account moves to the Free plan and keeps every project, chapter, note, chat and Story Bible entry. Paid-only tools lock again until you subscribe, and your credits wait in your balance.

Deleting your account

At the bottom of “Your Data”, tap “Delete Account”. A box asks “Delete your account?” and explains that it will permanently delete all your stories, chats, projects and memories. If you pay, your subscription is cancelled. This cannot be undone.

If you share stories with co-authors, the box lists them, for example “Sam keeps a copy of The Salt Witch of Kestrel Bay.” Your co-authors keep their own copies of shared stories.

Tap “Yes, Delete Everything” to finish, or “Cancel” to stop.

Emails you get, and how to stop them

Every marketing email has its own unsubscribe link that works in one click. You can also go to writewithpaige.com/unsubscribe (“Email preferences”), enter your account email and confirm from the link that arrives.

Account emails, such as receipts and sign-in links, still come after you unsubscribe, because you need them to use your account.

Privacy

The full privacy policy is at writewithpaige.com/privacy. It explains what is stored, why, and how to ask questions about your data.
