How to edit a fiction manuscript with AI

Edit Mode is a fiction-aware editor. Run an edit pass on one chapter, a Book Pass across every chapter, a continuity check against your Story Bible, or a Book Report with whole-book notes. Every change is a tracked suggestion you accept or dismiss.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Bring in your manuscript

Import your draft (.docx, .pdf, .epub, .txt and more) and choose Import as Chapters.

  2. 2

    Open Edit Mode

Open a chapter and press Edit in the editor toolbar.

  3. 3

    Run an edit pass

On the Edit Pass tab, press Run edit pass for mechanics, repetition and prose notes on the open chapter.

  4. 4

    Accept what you want

Changes arrive as tracked suggestions. Apply the ones you like and dismiss the rest.

  5. 5

    Go book-wide

On Book Pass, press Edit the whole book for one reviewable suggestion per chapter. Use Continuity to check a chapter against your Story Bible, and Book Report (paid plans) for whole-book developmental notes.

Built for fiction, not business email

General grammar tools flag fragments, dialect and comma splices as errors. In fiction they are often style. Edit Mode treats them that way, and focuses on what hurts a book: repeated words and phrases, crutch words, pacing, and continuity slips.

Questions

Does Edit Mode change my text automatically?

No. Nothing is saved until you accept it. Every suggestion can be previewed, applied or dismissed.

Can it edit a whole book?

Yes. Book Pass runs across every chapter, and Book Report gives whole-book notes. How many passes you can run depends on your plan.

Can it catch continuity errors?

Yes. The Continuity tab checks a chapter against your Story Bible.
