Step by step
Step 1: Open the Story Bible
On a phone, tap the “Bible” tab at the bottom. On a computer, click “Bible” in the left rail. A dot on the tab means Paige noticed something for you to review.
Step 2: Pick how much Paige may change it
At the top of the list, find “Paige and your Bible” and choose “Suggest changes”, “Update automatically” or “Only when I ask”.
Step 3: Review what Paige noticed
When cards appear under “Paige noticed”, tap “Read all” to see the whole suggestion, then “Add”, “Merge into…” or “Dismiss”.
Step 4: Lock what must never change
Tap the ⋯ on an entry and choose the “Lock” item. Paige still reads a locked entry, but she can’t edit it. You still can.
Step 5: Pin what Paige must read whole
In the same ⋯ menu, choose “Always read in full (up to 12k characters)”. A pin icon appears on the row.
Step 6: Park old material
Put drafts, cut scenes and old notes in a folder. Open the folder’s ⋯ menu and choose “Hide from Paige”. The folder shows “Hidden” and Paige stops reading it.
Step 7: Bring in or copy a Bible
Use the import button (“Import Story Bible from another tool”) for files from other apps. To reuse a Bible in a new book, open Projects, tap the project’s ⋯ and choose “Copy Story Bible to another project”.
What Paige actually reads each time she writes
Paige does not read your whole Bible on every turn once it gets big. She has a fixed amount of room for it. Knowing how she fills that room tells you which tools to use.
With a small Bible (about 50 entries or fewer), every entry is in the running every turn. With a bigger Bible, Paige picks the entries that best match what you are writing about right now. Some entries always get a place, whatever the topic:
- Characters named in your latest messages or at the end of the scene you are in.
- The “Story so far” summary Paige keeps for the book.
- Every entry of type Lore and Plot Arc. These are always sent, so keep them short and true.
- Every pinned entry (“Always read in full”), read whole up to 12,000 characters each.
Long entries get shortened unless you pin them
To fit many entries, Paige reads only the start of a long entry. She reads more of an entry when you name it in your message. A pinned entry is read whole, up to 12,000 characters.
Pins share a total budget of about two full-size entries. Pin the few that matter most, like your plot plan or a timeline, not everything.
If a pinned entry is longer than the cap, the row shows a note: “Paige reads the first 12k of its … characters. Split it into smaller entries to keep all of it in view.” When an entry Paige needed was cut, she adds one quiet line under her reply, such as “I could only read part of…”, with a tip on what to do.
"Paige and your Bible": the three settings
This one setting decides whether Paige changes your Bible on her own. It sits at the top of the Bible list. It applies to all your books.
- Suggest changes
- The default. “Paige suggests new entries here. Nothing changes until you say so.” Suggestions wait under “Paige noticed”.
- Update automatically
- “Paige adds and updates entries herself. Locked entries stay as they are.” Good when you trust her and want less tapping.
- Only when I ask
- “Paige won’t suggest anything on her own. Ask her in chat and she’ll draft the change for you to approve.”
When two entries disagree
Sometimes two entries say different things, like two eye colours for one character. Paige shows a card titled “These two disagree” with both facts side by side.
Tap “Keep” plus the right entry’s name. The other one moves to a folder called “Hidden by Paige”, which she doesn’t read. Nothing is deleted, and you can move it back any time. Tap “Both are fine” if both are true (for example, before and after a change). Paige won’t ask about that pair again. A locked entry is never the one hidden.
Folders, hiding and entry types
Tap “New folder” in the Bible header to make one. Drag entries into it. A folder’s ⋯ menu has “Hide from Paige” (or “Let Paige read this”), “Export as Word (.docx)”, “Rename” and “Delete”. Deleting a folder moves its entries back to the top level.
A hidden folder shows “Hidden”. Paige does not read it in chat, in her searches or when she updates the Bible. When you name a folder something like “Old Notes”, “Archive” or “Future scenes”, Paige may ask “Hide this folder from Paige?” (never in “Only when I ask”).
Entry type matters too. Character, Location, Item and Faction entries are picked when they fit the moment. Lore and Plot Arc are always sent. Outline is found when it matches. Change the type with the dropdown inside the entry.
Sort, select, export
The sort button changes how the list looks: Manual order, Title A → Z, Title Z → A, Recently edited, Newest first or Oldest first. It “Changes this list only. Paige always reads your manual order.” Drag entries in Manual order to set what comes first.
Tap “Select entries” (the checklist icon) to tick many entries and use “Delete selected”. They wait in Recently deleted for 30 days. Use “Find in Bible” to filter the list as you type.
The download button exports the whole Bible as a Word file (.docx). The globe button, “Publish as a world for others to play”, turns it into a story world (see the Story worlds guide).
Import a Bible from another tool, or copy one to a new book
Open the import button in the Bible header. The “Import Story Bible” window has two tabs: “Upload a file” and “Paste text”. “Nothing you already have gets overwritten.”
Files it reads: a NovelCrafter codex (.zip), a .md, .txt or .json file, or a SillyTavern or Chub character card (.png or .json) or lorebook. To paste, put three dashes on their own line between entries. The first line of each becomes its name.
After import you see how many entries were added. If a name already existed, both versions are kept so you can compare. Locked entries are skipped.
To start a sequel or a spin-off with the same cast, open Projects, tap the old project’s ⋯ and choose “Copy Story Bible to another project”. Entries that already exist there are skipped, so it is safe to run twice. Each book keeps its own Bible after that; changes in one do not reach the other.

Questions
Why did Paige forget a detail that is in my Bible?
In a big Bible, Paige reads only the entries that fit the moment, and only the start of long ones. Name the entry in your message, change its type to Lore if it is a rule of the world, or pin it with “Always read in full”.
Does locking an entry hide it from Paige?
No. Locked entries are still read. Lock only stops Paige from changing them. To hide entries, put them in a folder and choose “Hide from Paige”.
Should I pin every entry?
No. Pins share a total budget of about two full-size entries. Pin your plot plan, timeline or one key rule sheet. Paige finds characters on her own when they appear.
Will importing a codex wipe my entries?
No. Nothing you already have gets overwritten. If a name already exists, you get both versions side by side, and locked entries are skipped.
Can two books share one Story Bible?
No. Each book has its own Bible. Use “Copy Story Bible to another project” to start a new book with a copy.
Paige keeps rewriting my “Story so far” summary. Can I stop that?
Yes. Open Projects and turn off “Paige keeps my “Story so far” summary up to date”. The summary stays, and you can still edit it yourself.
