WriteWithPaige plans and daily limits explained

WriteWithPaige is free to start, with a daily allowance that refills every day. Plus, Pro and Ultra give you 12x, 40x and 120x the free allowance, and add tools like Book Report, whole-book edit passes and audiobook narration. Business gives every seat on a team more than Ultra, on one invoice.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Check your meter

On a computer, the “Daily usage” meter sits in the sidebar. On a phone, tap “Open menu” (top left) and it is near the top of the drawer. Tap the meter to see “Your Usage”, a percentage and when it resets.

  2. Step 2: Open the plans window

In Settings, tap “Upgrade to Premium”. You can also tap “Keep writing” on the banner that shows when you run out, or “Upgrade for more writing time” inside the meter when you are close to the end.

  3. Step 3: Choose Monthly or Annual

Use the “Monthly” and “Annual” tabs at the top. Annual shows the yearly price with your first-year discount, plus the price it renews at after year one.

  4. Step 4: Compare the cards

Each card shows the plan name, its usage badge (“12x free”, “40x free” or “120x free”), the writing Model it runs, the price and its main features. Pro is marked “Most Popular”.

  5. Step 5: Tap “Get Started”

Checkout opens inside the window. You can pay by card, and on many devices with Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link. Any plan starts right away.

  6. Step 6: Keep writing

Your new allowance and paid features are ready as soon as the payment goes through. Your stories, chapters and Story Bible stay exactly where they were.

The plans at a glance

There are four plans for one writer and one for teams. Usage is always shown as a multiple of the free allowance, so “40x free” means forty times what a free writer gets.

Annual billing saves about 17% compared with paying monthly for a year. When you pick “Annual” in the plans window, the cards also show a first-year discount and the full yearly price you pay after year one.

Free
$0. A daily allowance that resets every day. No card needed.
Plus
$20 a month or $200 a year. 12x the free allowance. Runs the Plus Model: smooth, dependable prose.
Pro
$60 a month or $600 a year. 40x the free allowance. Runs the Pro Model: richer prose and sharper reasoning.
Ultra
$100 a month or $1000 a year. 120x the free allowance. Runs the Ultra Model, the strongest one.
Business
$150 per seat a month or $1500 per seat a year, two-seat minimum. Every seat gets higher limits than any personal plan.

What stays free, on every plan

Free is a real plan, not a trial. You can write a whole book on it. The difference is how much you can do each day and a few extra tools.

  • Every writing mode: chat, a new chapter, continue or revise a chapter, and Story Bible updates.
  • The Story Bible, which keeps your characters, places and plot straight.
  • Chapters and export to EPUB and Word (.docx).
  • Your own AI key from a provider you choose, if you prefer (see “Use your own AI key”).
  • Notes, search, import, version history and Recently deleted.
  • One co-author in total, across all your stories.

How your daily allowance works

Free writers have a 24-hour window. Your allowance refills once a day, at the same clock time every day. New accounts get a little extra in their first days.

Paid writers have a 12-hour window. Your allowance refills twice a day, at fixed times. That means a long writing evening rarely leaves you waiting until tomorrow.

The meter never shows a count. It shows a percentage and the time it resets, such as “Resets at 5:00 PM (3h 12m)”, in your own time zone. Pictures, adventure narration and editing passes follow the same window as your plan.

“Your writing session is going strong.”
You have used less than half.
“Halfway through this creative session.”
About half is used.
“Your writing energy is winding down.”
Three quarters or more is used. A “Need more? See plan options” link appears.
“Almost at your session limit.”
Nearly all is used. An “Upgrade for more writing time” button appears.

When you run out

A banner appears above the chat box. On Free, the headline starts “Out of messages” (or tells you how many words you wrote today), and it says when your next messages unlock. Tap “Keep writing” to see plans. Tap the X instead and Paige emails you when your messages unlock.

On a paid plan the banner says you have used your allowance for now, shows the time it comes back, and offers the next plan up, for example “Upgrade to Pro”. Monthly subscribers also see a link to save on a year of their plan. On Ultra there is no bigger plan, so it simply tells you when your full allowance returns.

On a paid plan you may also see “Keep writing now”. It lets you carry on straight away with another writing model, paid with credits, which does not use your Paige allowance.

Nothing is lost while you wait. Your story is saved exactly where you left it.

Busy times

When a lot of writers are online at once, free and Starter writers may wait a moment in a short line before Paige starts. A card under the chat says how it works. Plus, Pro, Ultra and Business skip that line. The plans list it as “Skip the line at busy times”.

No Limits Day and other plans you may see

Some days are a “No Limits Day”. Subscribers write without a daily cap all day, and a strip in the sidebar or drawer says so. Paused subscriptions and subscriptions set to cancel are not included.

You may also meet a few plans that are not in the plans window. These are only offered in certain moments, never sold up front.

  • Starter (“Pick your own price”): you choose a monthly price inside a range the app shows. The more you pay, the more you can write each day. It is offered when you cancel, from some emails, or in the plans window after you say the price is too high.
  • “Try Plus free for a day”: sometimes offered if you leave checkout. Your card is needed. You are not charged if you cancel in Settings before the time shown.
  • Gift plans: someone bought you Plus, Pro or Ultra for a set time. Nothing renews. See “Give WriteWithPaige as a gift”.

Questions

Why doesn’t the meter show how many messages I have left?

The meter shows a percentage and a reset time on purpose. Plans are described as a multiple of the free allowance, so the percentage tells you what you need: how much of today is left and when it refills.

When does my allowance reset?

Free refills once a day at a fixed clock time. Paid plans refill twice a day, every 12 hours, at fixed times. Tap the “Daily usage” meter to see the exact time in your own time zone.

Do I get the bigger allowance as soon as I pay?

Yes. Any plan starts right away, so you can keep writing the moment checkout finishes.

Do other writing models use my daily allowance?

No. Replies on another writing model are paid with credits and do not use Paige’s allowance. That is why credits let a paid writer keep going after the limit.

Does my own AI key give me more room?

On a paid plan, yes: your key pays for the writing, so you get a bigger daily allowance than your plan normally gives. On Free, your own key does not change the free allowance.

What happens to my stories if I stop paying?

They stay. Your account goes back to the free allowance and paid-only tools lock again, but every chapter, note and Story Bible entry is kept.

Is Business worth it for one writer?

No. Business needs at least two seats. For a single writer, Ultra is the better fit.
