What does an edit pass change versus just flag?
An edit pass fixes mechanics (grammar, typos, repeated words, filler, and AI-ish stock phrasing) as tracked-changes suggestions you accept or reject one at a time. Bigger prose issues like pacing, showing versus telling, and dialogue quality are flagged as notes next to the passage. Edit Mode never rewrites those on its own; it tells you where to look and leaves the rewrite to you.
Do I keep control over what actually changes?
Yes. Every line-edit suggestion is a proposed change you accept or reject individually, the same way you would review tracked changes from a human editor. Nothing is applied to your manuscript automatically.

Does this replace a human editor?
No, and we would rather be honest about that than oversell it. Think of it as a pre-editor pass: it catches the mechanical issues and surface-level prose problems before a human ever sees the draft, so the editing round you pay a person for is faster and cheaper, focused on the judgment calls a human editor is actually best at.
Does it work for romance and other genres, not just literary fiction?
